“Our bones are the framework of support for our bodies, much like wall studs and beams in a house. Yet the alignment of the skeleton along the vertical axis of gravity is largely overlooked today even by fitness experts and yoga teachers.” – Kathleen Porter, “Natural Posture for Pain-Free Living”
This workshop explores the mechanics of a stable, upright, natural posture while seated, standing and moving and provides a blueprint for alignment that can help alleviate recurring discomfort and pain in the neck, back, hips and shoulders. Proper alignment also promotes better brain function and circulation, as well as a more balanced nervous system. Many of us, including yoga teachers, fitness gurus and physical therapists, do not have accurate information about, or we overlook the importance of, naturally good posture and the stability it brings to our lives.
In this workshop, we will experiment with yoga postures and non-traditional movement sequences to lead us to a better understanding of our own alignment roadmap. We will also discuss common misconceptions about proper posture.
This workshop is highly recommended for yoga teachers and students, physical therapists, personal trainers and anyone who wants to address neck, back, hip and shoulder issues. This workshop qualifies for Yoga Alliance CE hours.
