Wild Wonder Retreat 2027
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Feathered Pipe Ranch — Helena, Montana — August 21-27, 2027

What is WILD WONDER?
WILD WONDER is a retreat for women who want to immerse themselves in nature, mindful movement, creativity, themselves, and an empowering collective. Through yoga and movement, contemplative practice, and Journal Art, participants are invited to venture beyond the familiar, listen inwardly, experiment, and dive into what becomes possible when they trust their own voice.

What makes WILD WONDER different from other yoga or creative retreats?
The practices are not separate activities placed side by side. Movement and yoga, nature, contemplation, and art become different ways of exploring the same questions: What happens when judgment quiets? When we listen with all our senses? When we release the need to get it "right"? When we venture beyond the familiar? WILD WONDER moves from wild places to inner spaces, using curiosity and wonder as pathways toward greater freedom, self-expression, and fearlessness.

Who leads the retreat?
WILD WONDER is led by Linda Meacci and artist Kate Kolbrener, whose shared practice spans more than 25 years. Kate began practicing yoga with Linda in Pittsburgh in the mid-1990s and continued through retreats in Mexico, New Mexico, and elsewhere. Linda's teaching became an important thread in Kate's life and helped her find her way back to - and ultimately reclaim herself as - an artist. Their long relationship is part of the foundation of the retreat.

Who is this retreat for?
It is designed for women who may be in a season of transition or expansion, or who simply long to slow down and reconnect with themselves. It is especially suited to women drawn to nature, mindful movement, creativity, reflection, curiosity, and meaningful community.

What is the goal of the retreat?
WILD WONDER is less about telling participants what they should discover and more about creating the conditions in which discovery can happen: slowing down, listening inwardly, playing freely, connecting authentically, experimenting without knowing the outcome, and becoming curious about what might emerge.

What will I take home?
All the insights and connections that arise just for you. Participants will also leave with their personal art journal, a few favorite art-making supplies, and a "5 Ways to Use Your Art Journal at Home" card designed to help continue the practice of noticing, wondering, experimenting, and listening beyond the retreat.

Do I need yoga experience?
Yoga is about paying attention and listening with all of our senses. We all have experience with this! Come as you are. Choose from a great variety of movement and mindfulness practices. The emphasis on grounding and cultivating deeper connection with yourself.

Do I need to be an artist or have art experience?
Absolutely not. Journal Art is process-oriented and non-judgmental. There is no "right" way to do it and no expectation that participants create a finished or polished work of art. The practice is about exploration, play, reflection, experimentation, and discovery.

What is Journal Art?
Journal Art is a hands-on creative practice led by Kate Kolbrener that helps participants deepen and integrate their retreat experiences. The journal becomes a place to gather what is being noticed - in nature, in the body, through movement and contemplation, and within oneself - and give it form through color, marks, words, collage, and play.

How does Journal Art connect with the rest of the retreat?
It continues the retreat's larger inquiry. Yoga and movement awaken sensation and awareness. Nature awakens wonder. Art gives experience form. The journal becomes a place where the outer and inner worlds meet. A blank page can become a place to follow an impulse, change direction, begin again, or simply ask: What happens if...?

What does 'wonder as a pathway to fearlessness' mean?
Fearlessness does not have to mean the absence of fear. In WILD WONDER, curiosity offers another way forward. Instead of asking, "What if I get it wrong?" participants can practice asking, "I wonder what happens if...?" Wonder interrupts judgment, makes room for experimentation, allows uncertainty, and creates possibility.

What art materials will I need?
Each participant will receive an art journal, and art-making materials will be provided. Participants are also encouraged to bring personal collage materials - such as photos, old letters or mail, writings, receipts, brochures, or other meaningful ephemera - along with any favorite art supplies they would enjoy using.
